This paper is concerned with a nonlinear Timoshenko system with a time delay term in the internal feedback together with initial data and Dirichet boundary conditions. Under some suitable assumptions on the weights of feedback, we obtain the existence of a global attractor with finite fractal dimension for the case of equal speed wave propagation. We show that posets of bounded height whose cover graphs exclude a fixed graph as a topological minor have bounded dimension. This result was already proven by Walczak. However, our argument is entirely combinatorial and does not rely on structural decomposition theorems. Given a poset with large dimension but bounded height, we directly find a large clique subdivision in its cover graph. Therefore, our proof is accessible to readers not familiar with topological graph theory, and it allows us to provide explicit upper bounds on the dimension. With the introduced tools we show a second result that is supporting a conjectured generalization of the previous result. We prove that ‐free posets whose cover graphs exclude a fixed graph as a topological minor contain only standard examples of size bounded in terms of k.  相似文献

Sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) is a paradigm for reducing the dimension of the predictors without losing regression information. Most SDR methods require inverting the covariance matrix of the predictors. This hinders their use in the analysis of contemporary datasets where the number of predictors exceeds the available sample size and the predictors are highly correlated. To this end, by incorporating the seeded SDR idea and the sequential dimension-reduction framework, we propose a SDR method for high-dimensional data with correlated predictors. The performance of the proposed method is studied via extensive simulations. To demonstrate its use, an application to microarray gene expression data where the response is the production rate of riboflavin (vitamin B2) is presented.  相似文献

Properties such as shear modulus, gelation time, structure of supramolecular hydrogels are strongly dependent on self-assembly, gelation triggering mechanism and processes used to form the gel. In our work we extend reported rheology analysis methodologies to pH-triggered supramolecular gels to understand structural insight using a model system based on N−N’ Dibenzoyl-L-Cystine pH-triggered hydrogelator and Glucono-δ-Lactone as the trigger. We observed that Avrami growth model when applied to time-sweep rheological data of gels formed at lower trigger concentrations provide estimates of fractal dimension which agree well compared with visualization of the microstructure as seen via Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, for a range of gelator concentrations.  相似文献

We study long-time dynamics of abstract nonlinear second-order evolution equations with a nonlinear damping. Under suitable hypotheses we prove existence of a compact global attractor and finiteness of its fractal dimension. We also show that any solution is stabilized to an equilibrium and estimate the rate of the convergence which, in turn, depends on the behaviour at the origin of the function describing the dissipation. If the damping is bounded below by a linear function, this rate is exponential. Our approach is based on far reaching generalizations of the Ceron–Lopes theorem on asymptotic compactness and Ladyzhenskayas theorem on the dimension of invariant sets. An application of our results to nonlinear damped wave and plate equations allow us to obtain new results pertaining to structure and properties of global attractors for nonlinear waves and plates.  相似文献
